A "competitive" player regularly travels to non-adjacent cities for games. Injuries/Illness: If prior to the tournament one of your team's players cannot participate due to injury or illness, then you are permitted to use a substitute player. The substitute should download a registration form, fill out their information, sign and either turn it into the registration table the day of the event, or fax it to us. We prefer all teams have 4 players for the event. Awards: 1st place and 2nd place teams in each age group receive awards. All U7 and U8 players receive a participation gift upon registration. Game Duration:
Games last 12 minutes.
Minimum Amount of Games:
All teams are guaranteed a minimum of four (4) games. Top teams will advance into the playoff round.
Field Dimensions:
Length-30 yards, Width-20 yards. A line is marked parallel to each goal line, 6 yards out from the goal joining both sidelines. This area is called the goal box. One designated player on each team, the sweeper/keeper, is allowed to use hands in the defending goal box. The goals are 4 1/2 feet in height by 9 feet in width.
Number of Players:
Each team must have four players. All players must wear shinguards. Three players play on the field at one time. The team on the field is comprised of a sweeper/keeper and two (2) field players. The fourth player, the substitute, waits behind their goal.
Substitutions:
The referee calls out for a "substitution" every three minutes. The substitution rotation is as follows: Substitute to Sweeper/Keeper, Sweeper/Keeper to Field Player, Field Player to Substitute. Each player plays each position for the following durations: Sweeper/Keeper (3 min.), Field Player (6 min.), Substitute (3 min.) The team in possession at the time the referee calls "substitution" restarts the play with a goal kick.
Sweeper/Keeper Identification:
Sweeper/keeper must wear wristband (one provided to each team upon registration.)
Goal Kicks:
Must be taken from any point in the goal box. No opponents allowed in the goalbox at time of kick. Ball is “live” once it is touched (does not have to cross the 6 yard line). Goal kicks used to restart game after a goal is scored. Sweeper/keeper may pick up a goal kick played by a teammate.
Corner Kicks:
Must be taken from within 1 yard of corner.
Kick Ins:
The ball shall be kicked into play from the sideline instead of a throw in.
Slide Tackling:
Players must stay upright and "on their feet" when challenging an opponent. This does not prevent sliding to stop/intercept a ball, but No Contact can be made with opponents.
Five Yard Rule:
In all dead ball situations, defending players must stand at least 5 yards away from ball.
Restarts:
All goal kicks and kick-ins are indirect. FIFA rules apply to all fouls and misconduct with the following exception: deliberate handball that denies a goal scoring opportunity and violent play will result in a penalty kick.
Handball Clarification:
Deliberate handling of the ball that denies the opposing team an obvious goal, will result in a penalty kick.
Penalty Kicks:
Ball is shot on an open goal from the following distances: midfield (U7-U10), own 6 yard line (U11-U13), or end line (U14-Adult). All other players must be off to the side of the field except for the shooter.
Offsides:
No offsides in 3v3 Micro-Soccer.
Backpasses to Sweeper/Keepers:
Sweeper/keeper may only handle the ball in their goal box when the ball is played from an opponent, or deflection off a teammate (FIFA rules - violation is an indirect free kick). The only exception to this rule is that a sweeper/keeper may pick up a goal kick that is played directly to the sweeper/keeper from a teammate. At all other times, when a teammate deliberately kicks the ball to the sweeper/keeper, including a kick-in, the sweeper/keeper cannot handle the ball. (Further Interpretation)
Sweeper/Keeper Scoring:
Sweeper/Keepers cannot throw to score in opposite goal, but can kick.
Sweeper/Keeper Time Wasting: A sweeper/keeper holding the ball must play the ball after six seconds. Once the ball leaves the sweeper/keeper's hands, it must touch an opponent before the sweeper/keeper can handle the ball again.
Player Ejection (Red Card):
Referees have the right to eject a player from the game for continual disobedience or as a result of an incident that warrants sending off. The team will continue to play with their remaining three players. The ejected played will also be suspended for the following game. A team with less than three players will forfeit the game.
Scoring System (In Group Play):
Win=3 points, Tie=1 point, Loss=0
Tiebreakers In Group Play:
For teams that are tied with the same point total at the end of group play, the following tiebreaker policy will be employed to determine which team advances into the playoff round:
1) Head to head result
2) Shootout from penalty kick spot
Tiebreakers In Playoff Rounds:
In quarterfinal, semifinal, or championship games, if the game is tied at the end of regulation time a 3 minute "sudden victory" period will be played to determine a winner. In the event that the game remains tied at the end of the "sudden victory" period, then the teams will proceed directly to a shootout to determine a winner.
Shootout:
Ball is shot on an open goal from the following distances: Midfield (U7-U10), six-yard line (U11-U13), end-line (U14-Adult). All players, other than the shooter, must be off to the side of the field. All players shoot in the shootout.
Helpful Hint:
Get the sweeper/keeper involved in the attack as much as possible!
Sportsmanship:
Participating players, coaches and spectators are expected to act in the nature of good sportsmanship at all times. Abuse of the referee or opponent, verbal or otherwise, will not be tolerated. The field referee and event directors will have the authority to eject any offending party.
Refund Policy:
No refunds for canceled games due to circumstances beyond our control such as weather conditions. No refunds after the registration deadline, July 1, for teams that withdraw from event. Because this event fills quickly and is "first come, first served", teams that are not able to participate because of filled age divisions or not enough participants in their division, will be issued a full refund.
